If it's a city that has never reached your radar, I would urge you to give it a go.  A short 10 minute taxi takes you right into the city which is overlooked by an imposing castle.  For the adventurous among you, you can hike to the top to experience Alicante and the coastline in all its splendour.  Its a city full of fabulous restaurants, old cobbled streets and fascinating architecture.  Not to mention the shopping and cocktail bars.  A nice temperate climate makes it a great year round option.  So if you think it is something that might appeal to you - give me a call and I will happily share my favourite hotels and haunts with you.
