Cindy's Brazilian Family Adventure

In the Easter holidays my husband and I jetted off to explore Brazil with my 2 teenager children, what an amazing country it is, we loved every minute. Our adventure started in Rio de Janeiro, taking in the sights of Christ de Redeemer, watched sunset up Sugar Loaf mountain, Fifa- street favella tour, Maracana stadium and enjoyed relaxing on Copacabana beach. The next stop was the amazing Iguazu Falls, with over 270 falls, spreading over the border of Brazil and Argentina - it was incredible. We explore both the Argentina and Brazil side and got soaked on the boat trip into the falls ! We stayed in Foz De Iguazu for 3 nights, the boys enjoyed a round of golf and the girls enjoyed relaxing by the pool. We headed over the border into Paraguay for a quick shopping trip before continuing our journey to Santos ( Sao Paulo beach resort ). The home of Pele, my football crazy family headed to Santos stadium and Pele museum before exploring the old town on a vintage tram. From here we boarded our cruise ship for a 7 night sailing along the coast of Brazil, we headed 1000 miles north, visiting the picturesque resort of Buzios - with its cobbled streets, turquoise water and lovely beaches. Salvador was the next stop, home to where it all began in Brazil, circa 1500's the first part of Brazil that was discovered by the Portuguese. This colourful town has a huge Afro-Brazil vibe and it is vibrant, full of energy and packed with history. Our cruise then sailed to the North Beaches of Brazil where we enjoyed a day on a paradise beach just north of Maceio before heading back to Santos with a couple of sea days for us to relax and enjoy the ship.

On disembarking the cruise we had a full day before our late evening flight home so we took a private tour of Sao Paulo's city, taking in Bat Man alley - with it's colourful street art, visited the Monumento as Bandeiras, Ibirapurea Park and views of the city from the Museum of Art roof top.

Travelling to Brazil from Manchester the flights operate via Lisbon with Tap air it is 3 hours to Lisbon then 10 hours from there. Brazil is the only Portuguese speaking country in South America and English is not widely spoken ( google translate became our best friend ).

The country is so diverse, the people extremely happy, friendly and always dancing !! We loved every minute of this trip and it was a great way to celebrate my son's 18th Birthday. One for the memory bank !

Cruise conference in Budapest onboard AmaMora

Cindy and Julie recently travelled to Budapest for a cruise conference and enjoyed a 2 night stay on board Ama waterways river cruise boat AmaMora. This beautiful luxury river boat has 70 cabins, it is decorated throughout in lovely pastel pink colours. On the first evening they were invited to the fine dining restaurant at the back of the ship called Chef's table, this was a 7 course meal paired with a wine for each course, it was an incredible experience, it is included free of charge for each guest on board at least once per their cruise.

They enjoyed a walking tour through Budapest's Jewish quarter in the afternoon and in the evening the boat sailed down the Danube past the stunning Parliament building.

Day 2 - cruise conference day, they joined our cruise partners for a full day of product knowledge and networking. They had presentations from Virgin Voyages, Ambassador Cruises, Princess Cruises, Riviera Travel, Scenic / Emerald Cruises, Explora Journeys, Oceania Cruises, Azamara, NCL, Star Clippers, Cunard and Royal Caribbean Cruises.

When you stay on board a river boat they are able to dock in the city centre. It is a great way to experience may different cities and stunning landscape in one holiday. Ideal for those wanting to see lot's of different places while only unpacking once. A river cruise holiday can be as relaxing or as busy as you choose. Cindy had never been on a river boat before and absolutely loved it.

Vietnam

DIVERSE VIETNAM

When planning a trip to Vietnam recently it took me a while to decide what to see and what to leave out as it is such a large country with different climates, sights to see and places to visit I did not want to dilute my time by rushing from place to place.. but after being there I now know that wherever you go it is a wonderful experience and you get a feel for the country and it's culture wherever you go.

We started In Hanoi, a wonderful city buzzing with life and history, one place not to miss. Highlights for me was Train Street where the passenger train runs through the narrow, bustling streets regularly and the cafes along the route subtly move their chairs and tables out of the way to accommodate the train then back again for their customers to sit and watch the city life around them unfold.

The street vendors making meals in every alley and doorway with fresh ingredients and the tiniest chairs for their customers to enjoy their meals. The rooftop bars overlooking this city but most of all the smiling, happy people.

We then had an overnight in Halong Bay sailing around its stunning limestone karsts, emerald waters, and rich biodiversity. The boat was beautiful and the service fabulous. A quick stop but worth seeing.

We took advantage of taxis /bike transport via an app called Grab, we used local airports for flights between places and the trains are excellent. The country is geared up for people travelling and is done cheaply and efficiently with regular services. Very user friendly.

We next visited pretty Hoi An, an ancient town with a river running through, fabulous buildings, shops and restaurants in stunning wooden buildings but we stayed at the beach a 10 minute ride away so here we had the best of both worlds. The town is famous for its Lanterns which are pretty and in abundance.

The weather in the North was cooler but still warm enough to wander round in Summer clothes but we then headed for some serious sun and complete relaxation to the beautiful Mui Ne beach in the South where we chilled and caught our breath for a few days. We enjoyed catching our thoughts and thinking what we had already seen and done.

Our final stop was Ho Chi Minh the former Saigon. I thought this would be my least favourite place as it was busier, a soul less city, more cosmopolitan and not very authentic but I was very wrong, I loved it! It is fabulous, the old and new combined. Still tons of culture alongside their history, beautiful French architecture, war memorial, the Cu Chi Tunnels and Mekong are a must.

I could go on...and probably will if you want to call in to chat over a trip to Vietnam. There were so many highs and after travelling through Asia on several occasions I would say Vietnam was a wonderful experience that I thoroughly recommend.

Suuny Meloneras - Gran Canaria

Meloneras is one of my go to recommendations to clients who are looking for a change from Costa Adeje in Tenerife. In my opinion it is a much smaller version, still with a great selection of 4* and 5* hotels with the restaurants, bars and shops to cater for this clientele. Due to it's location on the island, on a cloud free night, you will get a stunning sunset which gets everyone walking along the front to stop and take photos. I fvisited Lefkas in Greece with my family this summer. It is a beautiful island, very pretty with stunning scenery. I stayed in the resort of Nidri which is around an hour from the airport. The resort has lots of restaurants and bars along the waterfront, all typically Greek. The beaches are shingle and are quite narrow, but plenty of sunbeds and beach bars. Lots of watersports for the more active available along the beach. There are boat trips you can take from Nidri over to neighbouring islands and these are really great value for money. A lovely resort that is great for families and couples alike.

Beautiful Belfast

Beautiful Belfast

A city full of history and many tales ! I visited Belfast for a weekend and even though I had been before it didn't disappoint! A quick 35 mins flight from Liverpool Airport I wanted into Belfast city airport which is located 10 mins from the city centre. I stayed in the Cathedral Quarter which is a great place to stay to experience many bars and great for shopping. Live music is available in lots of pubs and in true Irish style they are always a great craic ! Belfast is flat and easily explored by foot, you can take the riverside walk down to the Maritime area and explore the Titanic museum. I enjoyed taking a black cab political tour up Falls Road along the wall and down Shankill Road, the tour guide told us stories of how it was living in Belfast during the 'Troubles' it was very interesting. From Belfast you can enjoy a day excursion north to the Giants Causeway - I spent a week here a few years back and I would highly recommend visiting this area ! I see Belfast as an up and coming city very similar to Dublin without the price tag !

Stunning Singapore

Stunning Singapore

I took my family to Singapore for 3 nights en-route to Bali, Singapore had been on my bucket list for years and it did not disappoint ! Such a beautiful city, extremely clean and safe. During our jam packed itinerary we visited Raffles Hotel, went up the Marina Bay Hotel, walked some of the Singapore Grand Prix track, visited Gardens by the bay, enjoyed dinner at Boat quay and Clarke quay. I did my own walking tour of Bugis street, Arab street, Haji street and China town with all the fascinating cultures and buildings. I headed over to Sentosa which is the island off the mainland, here there are many attractions to keep the children entertained and a selection of luxury beach hotels.

I climbed up to the view point at Mount Faber which offers views all over the city and can be accessed via the cable car or walking from China town or Sentosa area. Plus much, much more !

I have fallen in love with Singapore and can not wait to return ! I flew with Singapore Airlines and they were superb.

Beautiful Bali

Beautiful Bali

I travelled to Bali this summer with my husband and 2 children aged 12/17 years and we had the most amazing time. I did a 3 centre trip staying for 4 nights in Sanur to begin, 2 nights Ubud then onto 4 nights Legian beach to finish. Each resort offered something different, Sanur felt like I was in Bali with lots of temples, less commercialised than some of the busier resorts, it is in the South of Bali and easy access to neighbouring islands or up to Ubud. Ubud is the cultural centre of the island, located in the jungle / rain forest region, it is a fascinating place and has lots to offer in this region. Legian Beach is a surfers paradise with the most fantastic sunsets, it is very busy over on the west coast and is very much Australia's go to part of Bali.

There is no public transport on the island and the travel is either by taxi or mopeds in abundance, quiet crazy at times where short journeys can take along time ! Sometimes it was quicker to walk !

I visited did a e bike tour of Sanur which visited the mangroves, rice Fields, traditional market and finished on the beach where we released a baby turtle back to the ocean. I took the fast ferry across to the beautiful island of Nusa Lembongan which was an experience in itself !

We visited the rice terrace, Ubud palace, Ubud water palace, monkey forest and we took a jeep safari to the volcano at 3 am to watch the most breath taking sunrise !

Bali really has something for everyone from relaxing, golf, to the adventure holiday makers it really caters for all. The people from Bali are the most genuine, kind, happy, smiling people that would go out their way to please you. I can not wait to return and next time I would love to visit Lombok and the Gili Islands.

Sensational St Lucia

In July I was fortunate to visit the fabulous Caribbean Island of St Lucia where the powder white sandy beaches meet the fabulous Piton mountains in the South West, the North West has the bustling towns of Castries and Rodney Bay.

I stayed at 4 different hotels and visited 11 during my 7 night trip, there really is something for everyone on this island from quirky boutique hotels to family resorts. It is an ideal honeymoon destination with many adult only and romantic hotels available.

For the adventure types there are lots of activities including hiking the Pitons, snorkelling, scuba diving, mountain bike trails, quad biking, bird watching etc.

Dr Doolittle was filmed in Marigot Bay and can easily be visited by hiring a car or by staying at the Zoetry hotel that is located on the beautiful Marina.

visited the most unusual hotel which has been featured on the TV programme ''Life Beyond The Lobby '' you have to see this hotel to believe it and it is such a special place with fantastic views overlooking the sea and pitons - the rooms in this hotel are open plan and only have 3 walls.

I would highly recommend travellers to do a 2 centre between the North resorts and South resorts to totally experience everything that St Lucia has to offer.

Croatia

Cavtat and Dubrovnik, Croatia

I love Croatia and it is probably one place I am happy to visit more than once. A short flight and you are in Dubrovnik which is perfect for a city break or longer to visit the Islands that surround it.

The city itself is stunning! Surrounded by the beautiful, old walls steeped in history there is a vibrant centre buzzing with amazing restaurants and bars, people watching is a must! There are steps and alleys in abundance to explore like a rabbit warren of sights and smells. You can get ferries from the harbour to the many Islands, a cable car takes you to the top of the mountain where you can enjoy a beautiful meal (book in advance for a sea view /sunset table..it will not disappoint) cocktails, an open air cinema, museums. Transport links with buses, Uber or taxis makes everywhere easy to reach.

We stayed in Cavtat which is about 45 minutes away by ferry, a beautiful place with pretty beaches, fancy yachts alongside simple fishing boats and the clearest sea to swim in. It has a laid back, relaxed feel with plenty restaurants and when you want something more there are plenty ferries to take you away for the day but you will want to come back.

Croatia is a must, the people are friendly and proud of their history, the food is fabulous accompanied by their home grown wine, service great and it feels like that extra special place.

This year we returned to beautiful Puerto Pollensa, a charming resort with its beautiful horseshoe bay, stunning mountain backdrop, and relaxed atmosphere. We took the vintage wooden train from Palma to Soller which took us on a journey through Mallorca's scenic landscapes. Soller is a picturesque town nestled in a valley of orange groves, a lovely place with narrow streets and traditional Mallorcan townhouses. From there we travelled on the tram to Port de Soller, another picturesque harbour town on Majorca’s northwest coast. This will not be our last trip to Majorca!

Wine themed river cruise with Uniworld

Having been on a few ocean cruises in the past, this year we decided to try our first river cruise. We chose a Uniworld sailing from Bordeaux on both the Dordogne and the Garonne with lots of wine chateaux excursion's included, it seemed the perfect choice. Our trip started from Wakefield on the train to London, with a short walk to St Pancras for the Eurostar to Paris with a nights stop an whistle stop tour before heading down to Bordeaux on the TGV - it was a great way to make the journey. Another night pre-cruise in Bordeaux allowed us to explore this really pretty/historic city before we boarded the boat. From the moment we did all I can we say is it didn't fail to impress. The standard of the furnishing/size of cabin, outside deck, restaurant, food and beverage were all top notch. Uniworld is an 'all inclusive' concept, so whether it is the drink of your choice, a coffee and pastry - there were no extra to pay at the end of your cruise. We loved being in the heart of wherever we stopped to allow us to wander off the boat at our leisure, or do one of the many included trips or just hop on a bike if that is your thing. Although it is not an itinerary you do a lot of sailing on, it was a lovely introduction to river cruising and will definitely be on our agenda to do again in another part of the world.

Team Trip to Italy

Team trip to Milan & Lake Como

At the beginning of June, we all took a well-earned team trip to Milan an Lake Como for a fun filled, jam packed weekend cramming in as much as we would to explore as much as we could in the short time we were there. With frequent flights from our local airports Milan is a great choice for city break and gives you access to Lake Como which is only 45 minutes by train from the central station in Milan.

We used all the transport options the city and the the Lake has to offer, buses, trams, train, taxis & ferries.

Whilst on Lake Como we were very lucky to be invited to have a tour and lunch of the Grand Hotel Tremezzo which was a stunning hotel right on the lakeside and was a truly special property which we can definitely see some of our clients enjoying a few nights there - we just know you'd love it.

As you can see from the photo above - we even took a cooking class whilst in Milan and made pasta and tiramisu which was great fun.

We hope you agree we made a good effort!

Scilly Isles at long last!

Scilly Isles at long last!

A visit to the Scilly Isles has ben on my to do list for around 14 years since I watched a programme on TV 'An Island Parish' which did an incredible job of highlighting what a stunning place the Isles of Scilly are. Luckily for me my sister in law shared the same desire to visit these islands and this May we finally both got to spend a week exploring this special place. We stayed on St Mary's which is the largest of the 5 inhabited islands which are part of over a 120 islands that make of this archipelago. Travelling over on the Scillonian lll ferry from Penzance Harbour (thankfully it was as flat as a mill pond) and then return on the small 15 minute flight back to Lands End Airport we embraced the full travelling experience to the islands.

During our stay we hired a golf buggy to explore St Mary's, used the Boatman's Association of Scilly excellent service to visit the other 4 inhabited islands. Having lunch (and a beer or 2) at the UK's most south westerly pub on St Agnes, exploring the gardens on Tresco, BBQ on the beach on St Martins followed by a quick stop at the Fraggle Rock bar where just some of the stand out moments. With white sand beaches all to yourself it truly was a special place to visit.

It's not the easiest place to get to get to, but is hands down, worth the effort, and is definitely a place you have to plan in advance to visit which I would obviously love to help any of clients plan a trip there.

Portals Nous, Majorca

Cheeky weekend in the Sun

I have been to Majorca a few times but a recommendation to Portals Nous swayed my decision of where to go for a long weekend in the sun. Flight is 2.5 hours, transfer from the airport less than half an hour and the hotel Tomir Suites was just perfect.

The hotel was fabulous, great rooms, service, food, bars and pool area. Adult only, stylish and accommodating for couples and groups of friends alike.

The harbour area is a 15 minute walk away where there are plenty high end restaurants and bars to sit and watch the world go by, shop or take a look at the stunning yachts moored next to the promenade.

The beach is nearby, very chilled vibes, nice cafe that serves snacks and more importantly Sangria.

There are regular buses and taxis if you want to visit Palma for some sightseeing or Palma Nova/ Magaluf for some nightlife. Portals Nous has everything you need for a perfect trip. I will definitely be going again!

Lanzarote Winter Break

Lanzarote Twin Centre

March I think is a lovely time to have a little break and soak up some winter sun, and for me it was Lanzarote this year. We stayed in 2 different resorts this time, 5 nights in Playa Blanca and 4 nights in Costa Teguise - a great way to experience the different resorts the island has to offer. The hotels were both really lovely and would happily recommend, if you are thinking about visiting Lanzarote - give me a call.

The sights of Seville in February

In February I travelled to Seville for a 4 night break with my family, I had never been before and it had always been on my wish list to visit. I stayed in the old town of Seville just 5 mins walk from the Cathedral/river front and only 10 minutes from the colourful Triana across the river. The old town is beautiful, the Cathedral is the largest Gothic Cathedral in the world and 2nd largest in the world. I explored the magnificent inside which is home to Christopher Columbus's tomb then I climbed up the Giralda tower which offers fantastic views over the city. Located in the same old town square is the UNESCO site of The Royal Alcazar, the home of the Spanish Royal family, inside the palace are the most amazing gardens that you can explore. The city is really easy to navigate on foot and everything is within a 30 mins walk, there is a good tram service, hop on hop off bus and plenty of taxis for the less mobile.

North of the city is the Las Setas area, home to '' the mushroom of Seville '' this viewing platform is one of the largest wooden platform in the world, you can visit during the day for fabulous views and return at night time for the Aurora night show. In the Las Setas area there are many shops, restaurants, bars and it has a bustling feel to it.

For any sports fans a trip to the Sevilla football stadium is a must, located 15 mins drive from the old town the stadium, it has one of the steepest stands in football history - not for the faint hearted !

South of the old town is Plaza De Espana, this monumental building which radiates Sevillian and Andalusian character was built in 1929 for the Ibero-American exhibition and has been used in Star Wars movies. It is a fabulous place to spend the afternoon, watching the world go buy or cycling/walking in Parque de Maria Luisa which is located next door. If Flamenco dancing is your thing then across the river where all the colourful houses are in the lively district of Triana, this is where Flamenco first started and can still be enjoyed at one of the many establishments!

Seville offers something for everyone, there were 7 of us ranging from 12 years - 78 years and we all had a brilliant time. It is a great city to explore the area with train connections to Cordoba, Malaga, Madrid, Cadiz and beyond.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam in the Spring

I think Amsterdam is a wonderful place to visit any time of the year but a nice, crisp Spring morning strolling the streets and canals without the crowds is a delight.

There is so much to do or so little if you prefer to simply sit in the many cafe bars people watching.

We visited Anne Frank Haus and the Bodyworld Museum whilst there this time. Both 'must see' to be believed destinations, very informative, shocking in places and very thought provoking.

There is plenty culture with several Art galleries to visit, Flower Markets or simply hire a bike and pedal around the City exploring, take a boat cruise, walk the 9 Streets area with its fabulous shops and eateries. There is also the seedier sights for which Amsterdam is famous for, which can also be visited or avoided easily depending on the audience. This is a fascinating city for every taste.

I have been several times and always love to go back and explore a different hotel in a different area to get the full picture of the place. I would highly recommend as a weekend away, short flight, plenty to do and talk about when you get home!

During the months of January and February 25 we ran our ''Pack your bags'' competition ! Julie picked out the 2 winning customers from the prize drawer on the 1st March 25 and they were both over the moon with the sets of luggage the won !

The Big Easy - New Orleans during Mardi Gras Season

New Orleans

I visited New Orleans known the locals as the ‘Crescent city’ or ‘Big Easy’ at the end of January with 3 friends, this was during the Mardi Gras period which runs from 6th January each year until Fat Tuesday which is always the day before Ash Wednesday (so changes each year!). On the Saturday night I was able to enjoy one of the Mardi Gras parades that are on selected days during the build up to the big event itself. The parade was huge and went on for over 3 hours, it was a sci-fi parade and great to experience.

New Orleans is such a fabulous city with a great vibe, if offers lots of live music, located on the Mississippi river and has lots of history to offer. It is home to one of the largest WWII museums in the world. You can take a tour out to the Plantation Homes for black slave history, the city has a lot of Spanish architecture and French colonial buildings. I visited the Whitney Plantation, this is located hours’ drive out of the city by coach, it was very sad to see and interesting at the same time.

During my 5 nights stay I visited the famous French Quarter - home to Bourbon Street, here is the real hub of the city with bar after bar offering all types of live music from morning until night. Frenchmen is where the locals hang out and here you will find jazz bands galore. This area is compact, and you can easily walk around this area, it has many restaurants from fast food to fine dining it offers something to suit everyone’s budget.

Another highlight of my trip was taking the steamboat Natchez up the Mississippi river for an afternoon jazz cruise in the sunshine. Here I just sat back and watched the world go by while listening to the band playing in the background.

For any sports enthusiasts it is home to the Smoothie King area and Superbowl area, I had the pleasure of attending a basketball game while I was there and this was fantastic to experience even if you’re not a fan like me, it was a night of fun and entertainment!

Home to many swamps I did an excursion 40 mins out of town to the beautiful Bayou, here you can board a hovercraft or river boat and head out to see the wildlife of the area including herons, birds, racoons and alligators (depending on the time of the year). This was another great morning.

There are trams (street cars) that operate in and around New Orleans, I took the old tram line – St Charles Avenue Line out towards the Garden District where you get a real feel for the community, many interesting, mansions/houses can be seen along the route. It cost 3 euros per day to use all the public transport around the city. On the same day we took the included ferry across the river to Algiers Point, this is a key part of the black slave trade history and is like going back in time and is home to a typical English pub if you fancied a pint!

I did the hop on hop off bus tour and guided walking tours of the French Quarter and Garden District which were great and informative.

The city is great to explore at leisure as a city break or in conjunction with one of the many cruises that operate from here to Mexico and Caribbean Islands. I absolutely loved this city and I feel it has something to offer everyone! I hope to visit again one day with my family.

I flew direct from London Heathrow with British Airways in economy class, the outbound flight took 10 hour 40 mins and on the return I was lucky to book business class which was amazing and the flight home took 8 hours.

Marvellous Malaga

Marvellous Malaga - Winter city break

I decided to visit Malaga with 5 of my friends for a special birthday. I had heard so many good things about the city from Ruth and our clients. It did not disappoint, we all loved it and all said we will return !

In December, Malaga City is decorated with many Christmas decorations including the most beautiful Malaga lights and the nightly projection show on the Cathedral.

I stayed in the centre of the historic district, a mainly pedestrianised area, with cobble streets and hundreds of tapas, roof top bars and restaurants. There is a ancient roman amphitheatre, a castle and Alcazaba fortress that are worth a visit and the entrance fees are only 5.50 euros for both the Castle and the Alcazaba. Malaga is mainly flat except where the castle is located, it offers panoramic views over the bay of Malaga, you can get a bus, taxi or walk up to the castle 675 metres uphill to the top!

We enjoyed a tapas/wine walking tour that explored the Atarazanas Market hall and surrounding neighbourhood, we had a fab tour guide called Jose and we tried lots of local tapas.

I enjoyed a 10km walk for sunrise, as you can see from the photo the sunrise was stunning. I walked along the promenade and a couple of miles out of town where the beach is. The Malaga Marathon was taking place and the atmosphere was buzzing around the harbour area.

On our last day we enjoyed a private Flamenco dance lesson and enjoyed a sunset cruise from the harbour.

Malaga is a great city to explore on foot, it is suitable for all ages and only 20 minutes from the airport !

Festive Copenhagen

Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen..

Copenhagen in Winter is extra special. Very cold, very pretty and a festive delight. The city is extremely walkable but there are trams, metro and also bike hire as bikes are in a majority here. I did not trust myself to try this option but maybe next time.

The architecture is stunning with museums, churches and beautiful squares to explore.

Cafe culture here is paramount and even the cold does not stop people sitting out, blankets, table heaters and seat warmers are everywhere to keep you snuggled while you sit with a wine, people watching.

The Danish have an extremely stylish spirit and the clothes shops are a must for the fashionistas as are their home ware stores.

We took a River Cruise which was a lovely experience and we could see parts of this wonderful city we did not know existed.

Carlsberg Brewery Tour is a must, Tivoli Gardens was fabulous and very festive, Christmas Markets are quaint and pretty, a must.

I would also love to visit in Spring/Summer as it is such a clean. vibrant city and has lots to offer whatever the season.

Menorca

In September I visited Cala’n Bosch, a lovely resort located on the southwest coast of Menorca. Our hotel had direct access to a pretty cove with powder fine, white sand and a beautiful turquoise sea. The marina area, lined with lots of restaurants was only a short stroll away. The resort is suitable for people of all ages. The buses are very efficient and reasonably priced and local boat trips are readily available. A great holiday was had and I would definitely return one day!

This summer we spent our family holiday in Santa Ponsa in Majorca. A great family resort with a fantastic sandy beach offering lots of watersports for the more adventurous. There are lots of bars and restaurants to cater for all tastes. There is a busy area at one end of the bay, known locally as 'The Strip' where there are many music bars which stay open until the early hours but this is a place you can easily avoid if you enjoy a quieter evening. Easy access from Santa Ponsa to Palma, Magaluf and Palma Nova. The local bus service is efficient and reasonably priced to explore other areas of the island. We hired a boat for the day and enjoyed exploring the coastline and the quieter bays that Majorca has to offer. This was easily organised in resort. A good resort for families of all ages to enjoy.

My Kenyan Safari

In October I was lucky enough to visit the amazing African country of Kenya and I left a part of my heart there! The country makes you smile with joy. I am not sure if it is the people, the sights and smells of Africa or the Wildlife. It is an experience not to be missed.

Nairobi is a buzzing capital city and has some fabulous hotels to recharge the batteries before you embark on your safari. The city itself has plenty attractions to keep you busy and introduce you to conservation at its best. We visited the David Sheldrick Elephant sanctuary which is an extra special, heartwarming centre for rehabilitation of rescued Elephants and their ultimate journey back into the wild.

We also visited the Giraffe Centre which is both informative and a fun thing to do, a place where you can get up close and personal with these beautiful creatures.

We visited hotels and restaurants that were outstanding and I would highly recommend a night or two here pre or post to appreciate all Nairobi has to offer.

From Nairobi we drove about 4 hours to our first safari lodge Tambarare in Ol Pajeta Conservancy, A stunning tented camp, with extremely attentive staff, beautiful surroundings and a very personal experience. This camp is high end rustic with the bar and dining area overlooking a watering hole where the animals wandered oblivious to the humans nearby. Attention to detail in the lodges is paramount from your own butler, heated blankets and morning coffee being delivered to your veranda.

Game drives were planned around the client, early mornings, evenings, gin and tonics out on the plains watching the sun go down surrounded by Zebras. A little piece of paradise.

Our second lodge Olonana was reached by a short flight where we were collected from a makeshift runway in a small aircraft which was a love/hate trip for some. I think it is an absolute must so you can see Africa from the air.

This lodge was the ultimate in luxury. Amazing rooms with views over the river from your balcony, free standing bath and a full fridge of wine. The game drives were in the Masai Mara filled with animals and even a trip to a nearby Masai village was factored into the itinerary.

We found the guides interesting, knowledgeable, patient and really good fun. The staff in both places were attentive and the food was amazing, as was the wine!

I could carry on with the love and appreciation of this trip for days but why not call in and let me inspire you to visit Kenya.

I have recently been to Benidorm for a short break with my family to celebrate my brother in laws 60th birthday. For sure Benidorm is like Marmite you either love it or hate it ! I would like to tell you how this region has so much more to offer, and how you can explore the coast surrounding Benidorm by using the super efficient tram and bus service. I took the tram down to the most colourful town of Villajoysa, only 20 minutes south of Benidorm and 1 euros 45 cents the tram took you to the top of this beautiful resort, it was a steady 10 minutes walk down hill to the fabulous sea front. There are many lovely sea front restaurants, quirky colourful streets and a lovely promenade to explore. The beach is sandy and very flat. If you are looking for a short break this would be a great option. The tram along this coast line runs from Alicante up to Denia. It runs inland at the top of the major resorts and with lovely mountains as back drop.

I also headed north on a different day, I took the open top bus from Benidorm for 11 euros 24 hours unlimited travel, I went to the beautiful white washed resort of Altea. This resort is very picturesque, with a central square and a church at the top of the hill with a good selection of quirky shops, labyrinth of streets, while down by the sea front another spectacular promenade that you can walk for miles. There is a lovely marina and good selection of sea front cafes/restaurants. The beach here is pebbled/shingle I found it not as nice however the outlook is lovely. Altea is nicknamed as the Santorini of Spain. The tram station is located at the bottom of the hill and takes 20 mins. I will definitely return to either of these resorts. I loved them, Costa Blanca is a great place for exploring, hiking, beach, shopping, cycling. It really does offer something for everyone.

Montreux Mini Break

Having only visited Geneva before, I knew how beautiful this are of the world was, so to have the opportunity to visit Montreux, I jumped at the chance. After a short flight into Geneva from Manchester, we caught the direct train at the airport up to Montreux which in parts runs at the side of Lake Geneva and takes just over an hour into the center of Montreux. The views of the lake were stunning and we were lucky enough to have some lovely warm sunshine in early October. The obligatory selfie with Freddie Mercury's statue at the side of the lake, we then explored the waterfront on front by foot. The lake cruises had just finished for the winter season but would be a lovely thing to do. When we checked in the hotel we were given a free travel pass covering the trams and buses in the area to allow us explore up the mountains or along the lake - a great way to encourage visitors to explore the whole area. Highly recommend adding Montreux to your list of places to visit if you haven't already done so - a great short break destination.

Med Cruise

If you have read any of my earlier blogs, you will know I am a fan of small ship cruising with Azamara and have just returned from a lovely 4 night trip with a pre cruise night in Barcelona. We stayed in a central hotel with a fabulous roof top bar to enjoy drinks as the sunset before heading out for a modern style tapas meal. The following day after having a little walk to the central market we headed down to the port to board the ship. With approx. 700 guests, it's a lovely looking ship as you can see from the main image. The cruise took us to St Tropez, Nice then Toulon before heading back to Barcelona which was a fabulous itinerary for a short cruise. Highly recommended and if it's something that appeals to you - give me a call and I will do my best to arrange a similar fantastic experience.

Magnificent Menorca

In August I travelled to the beautiful Mediterranean island of Menorca for the first time with my husband and 2 children aged 11 & 16 years. I stayed in the small resort of Sa Caleta which is located only 1.5 miles from the historical city of Ciutadella. The sea was turquoise and crystal clear, it was ideal for paddle boarding, snorkelling and jumping in from the many coves/rocks, my family very much enjoyed. I enjoyed walks along the seafront to the neighbouring towns, where there were many sandy coves to be explored. We hired a car to explore the island, we travelled around the island visiting the resort of Cala Galdana in the South to the resort of Fornells in the North. The buses on the island are very efficient and cheap, we caught the bus to Cala n Bosch and Ciutadella on an evening which was lovely. The whole island is relatively low-key for nightlife, this was ideal for my family who enjoy beach days, paddle boarding, snorkelling, swimming etc along with watching the stunning sunset and a nice meal out on an evening. I would definitely return, a great holiday had by all.

Elounda, Crete's best kept secret.

Elounda had been highly recommended as a place to relax and recharge. It did not disappoint! The beautiful, calm bay of clear water was edged by a small fishing harbor with plenty restaurants to choose from by the shore.

Across the bay is the enchanting Island of Spinalonga that is steeped in history, with boats trips every 30 minutes.

Aghios Nikolaos the main town is a 15 minute taxi ride away and has fabulous shops, bars, restaurants and plenty people watching opportunities. if you prefer something a little different.

There are plenty things to do and places to explore around the area to entice you away for day trips but you may just be as happy as we were to stay there and chill.

An unspoilt bit of Greek life that I am sure we will visit again.

Greek Island Cruising

I have just returned from a week cruising around the Greek Islands with Azamara - what can I say other than you need to try this style of cruising to understand. Small ship - 650 guests on my cruise - boutique style cruising, informal wear - no set dining times or tables - docks in the heart of the port due to the size of the ship. The image is the ship is in Aghios Nikolaos in Crete and for anyone who has been there - you will know exactly where this is. There are 4 ships in fleet all very similar in size that try an incorporate late evenings or sometimes overnights at least once within an itinerary so you can be free to explore your stops at night time as well as the day. I love just being able to get on and off, do our own thing, explore on foot - or this time on a quad! The sailing so close to the islands was a lovely experience whether it was as the sun came up in or morning or it set on an evening. Jersey holds a place in my heart as I have visited this beautiful island for years and I now feel like a local. Over the years is has transformed from a simply a destination for an older generation and now offers something for everyone.

The beaches are in abundance from tranquil,, sandy coves like Greve de Lecq to large stretches of beaches like St Brelade's Bay with watersports to suit all ages and deck chairs for those who just like to people watch.

There is a large surfing community, a fabulous zoo which has eco friendly accommodation on site, historical Jersey War Tunnels to name but a few of the many attractions.

The flight is an hour at most and car hire is available at the airport. Driving the Island is so easy and enables you to meander the pretty lanes with French names and discover your own little piece of paradise. The bus service is also an option and they run regularly around the Island.

There are many fabulous restaurants catering for every taste, quirky beach bars and cafes overlooking the sea serving fresh produce. The Jersey Royals definitely taste amazing straight from the ground!

Even though I want to keep Jersey all for myself I would recommend a visit to see what this beautiful place has to offer.

Benalmadena is a lovely resort on the Costa Del Sol. The sea front promenade is great for walking and is flat which is good news for the less mobile or for young families. Beaches are nice and clean and the sea front cafes and restaurants serve delicious sea food, salads and grilled meats. The marina is a lively place to visit, especially on an evening where there are lots of bars, shops and restaurants. Local buses and trains are cheap, clean and reliable to visit other areas of the Costa Del Sol. Benalmadena is a great resort for doing as much or as little as you wish.

The Southern most easterly tip 'the heel' is an area of Italy the Italians like to keep predominantly to themselves. Not the easiest to get to from the North of England, but summer flight from Manchester to Brindisi may change it. You'll need a car to experience all this region has to offer. Now I can't mention Italy without referring to the food, so I won't - it was fabulous! Puglian wine and fabulous foccacia, not forgetting the staple sweet treat from Lecce - Pasticciotto - just google it! It was only a short visit, but we experienced the old cites, the coastal drives - the very tip of Italy and then a very relaxing stay on hands down - one of the nicest beaches I have ever experienced, clear blue shallow crystal clear sea - heavenly! I can't wait to help you plan a trip to this area of Italy - consider it for an early or late season break, trust me - it's worth the effort.

Cruise to Bahamas from New York

I travelled during the Easter holidays to New York with my 2 children aged 11/15 years, we stayed overnight in New York before and after the cruise. When we arrived, we headed straight to our hotel and dropped off our bags. We then headed straight to Times Square where we enjoyed the Rise NY experience – this is an indoor ride attraction – like Disney’s soaring ride! It was ideal as the weather was terrible on arrival. The next day we got up early for sunrise – I knew with jetlag we would be up so decided to make the most! We took the Roosevelt tram way across the river to watch the sunrise over Manhattan, after this we headed to the Home Alone’s Park Plaza hotel near central park! We then called for breakfast at the famous Ellen Stardust diner. Next stop was Top of the Rocks – Rockefeller centre for the most amazing views of the city, it was a beautiful day, we could see for miles. We called at St Pats Cathedral and Radio city before heading to the cruise ship. We sailed on MSC Meraviglia from Brooklyn cruise port, calling at Cape Canaveral, Oceans Cay and Nassau in the Bahamas it was a fabulous 7-night cruise. The ship is a large ship of 5.6k passengers so not for everyone, it has so much to offer everyone with great entertainments programme, kids club, waterpark and high ropes course to name a few. The ship has 22 bars and 12 different dining venues. My cabin was a balcony aft cabin overlooking the wake of the ship which is our favourite location, it consisted of a double and full-size bunk beds. It is our 4 MSC cruise and we love them. Back in New York we had a full on 2 days visiting The Edge, One World Observatory, The Oculus, Madison Square Garden’s private tour, The Ride bus tour, Central Park, Empire state building, we walked the high line, visited little island, Macys and much more! I pre booked everything before I went using the go city app. The whole trip was amazing from start to finish with memories to last a lifetime.

Despite the many years I have worked in travel, this was the first time I have visited the UAE. Springtime in New York

We took a big bite!

The buzz of New York never stops. The noise, the smells, the pace of life is exciting. You almost feel like you are in a film set as so many famous movies have been shot in the city you recognise places you have never visited before.

5 days of walking, 48 miles, a few blisters ...we had several seasons in such a short time and we still have not seen it all.

We did the open top bus which is fabulous to see all the different areas and pinpoint where you are. We visited all the major attractions of Empire State, Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty by boat, Rockerfeller centre, 5th Avenue, The Edge to name a few.

The 9/11 memorial is harrowing and amazing at the same time. I loved Central Park and its tranquility in such a chaotic place.

We ate in Little Italy and we could have been in Naples. We became regulars at Dunkin Donuts.

It really has it all and more. I am sure we will not wait another 20 years before we visit again!

Tenerife Trip

My last visit to Tenerife was way back in the 90's so a return visit has been long overdue! Having visited all the other islands in recent years, Tenerife was the one I felt I really needed to visit again to see firsthand all the new hotels and resort areas that have been developed. It ticked all the boxes and I was able to have a look at lots of the hotels that I regularly send clients to and can see why it has such a big loyal client base. Something for every taste and budget and still great value for money dining out in the huge choice of restaurants on offer in the resorts. It may have been a while since I last visitied, but I can guarantee it won't be as long until my next visit!

Precious Peru

Adventures of Peru by Cindy

In March 2024 I was given the opportunity to travel to Peru and become an ambassador for Latin Routes. I flew to Cusco which is a UNESCO protected city located in South-eastern Peru near the Urubamba Valley of the Andes Mountain range. Cusco is the former gateway to the Incan Empire. In Cusco the main square known as The Plaza De Arms is home to many restaurants, cobbled streets and fantastic Spanish architecture. I stayed here for 3 nights and explored the area around. I spent a full day exploring The Sacred Valley visiting the Incan site of Moray and the salt mines of Maras this area offers a lower altitude than Cusco and the most amazing scenery.

The next day I boarded the Inca Rail train from Ollantaytambo - home to the amazing fortress of the Incas to Aguas Calientas the train station closest to the famous Machu Picchu archaeological site. I was upgraded to the 360 carriage on the train and it was amazing, we followed the Urubamba river along the way, enjoying views of the Andes mountain range and it's glaciers. From here you take a 30 min bus ride up the mountain to the entrance of the site. Alternatively you can hike the Inca trail over 4/5 days camping along the way. Machu Picchu was breath taking, a real pinch me moment and a dream come true. I spent 2 nights in Lima at the Latin Routes Academy learning everything Latin America has to offer. Porto the city of 6 bridges

Picturesque Porto

Early Feb I flew to the Portuguese city Porto for a long weekend break. I flew from Manchester for 3 nights, staying in some great apartments located in the old town and close to the Douro River. After the 2 hours flight I jumped on the airport bus into town 45 mins journey for 2.50 euros. Porto is a beautiful, colourful city, home to 6 bridges that connects Porto with Gaia, many of the buildings are UNESO protected. Gaia is south of the river a separate city to Porto, home to many Port factories, take the cable car to the top of the Dom Luis Bridge for amazing views, sunset and the Monastery of Serra do Pilar. Many of Porto’s attractions are located on the hilltop including the Cathedral, Palacio da Bolsa and Clerigos church/tower to name a few... it is a hilly city in most parts. I explored Porto on foot, via Tuk Tuk and enjoyed a 1hr boat trip along the Douro. On the Saturday I walked along the river Douro to where the river meets the Atlantic Sea, this is a lovely 5km walk on the flat to the lighthouse -you can also take then historic number 1 tram if you don’t fancy walking. From the lighthouse I continued my walk along the sea front to Matosinhos -a major port and fishing village 5km away, along this section there are great beaches ideal for sunbathing, windsurfing, or watching the world go by in one of the sea fronts bars/restaurants. I finished my weekend completing The Arrabida Porto Bridge Climb up 262 steps to watch the fabulous sunset over the Atlantic Ocean where I enjoyed the reward of a shot of Port -not for the faint hearted!

Perfect weekend in Prague

I visited Prague for a 2 night short break in January flying with EasyJet from Manchester - staying in a lovely central hotel in the Old Town called Metropolitan Old Town. The hotel was located 8 mins walk from the Town Hall square, 5 mins from Powder Tower and 15 mins walk to Charles Bridge. Over the Vltava River is Prague Castle and Petrin Tower that offer amazing views over the city. I climbed the Town Hall Tower, home to the 600 year old Astronomical clock, here I watched the most beautiful sunset. Prague is a great city to explore on foot or by the many trams that run across both sides of the city. It is home to many unusual museums, has lots of history and is good for shopping. It really does offer something for everyone. Prague also offers a large bar scene for the young and young at heart. I will definitely return. It's December time so I'm back in Malaga for our annual pre-Christmas trip to get us in the Christmas mood, and it doesn't disappoint. A fabulous light display 3 times a night which pull in the crowds from all over the coast, fabulous shopping, Christmas market, a great food scene - what more can you want? We love Greece and have to say that Lambi in Kos is up there as one of our favourite holiday destinations. A shingle beach which can be enjoyed sat sipping a cocktail from one of the many beach front bars and tavernas or being more active and having a go at some of the water sports on offer. A visit to Kos Town is a must with its vibrant harbour and tavernas in the Old Town.

Lots of day excursions to enjoy whether it’s a day trip over to Turkey, a day at the waterpark or a leisurely cruise and swim around the smaller islands, it really is a great all round resort with something for everyone to enjoy.

Flying Visit to Hong Kong

My last visit to Hong Kong was way back in 1991 and what a difference city it is now. I was lucky enough to be invited on a short break hosted by one of our suppliers plus the Hong Kong Tourist Board to promote the city not just as a stopover destination, but a holiday destination in it's own right. In 48 hours I experienced the Avenue of the Stars, Star Ferry, hop on hop off tour, Peak Tram, Ladies Market, M+ Museum of Culture, a walking food tour, 3 hotel visits and every mode of transport on offer - phew! And it still has lots more to offer - so mission accomplished as a standalone destination to visit.

Magical Disneyland Paris

I visited Disneyland Paris for my daughters 11th birthday in November 2023 along with my husband and 15 year old son. This time we stayed at the budget Santa Fe Hotel which is a Disney hotel - cars themed. The hotel is located 20 mins walk or 7 mins free bus ride to the parks. There are two parks in Paris - Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios. If you stay onsite your park tickets are included and allow you to hop between both parks. We enjoyed the many rides, shows and attractions that Disney offers, the highlights being the Christmas parade, Disney Dreams Night-time Extravaganza and Hyperspace mountain. At this time of year it feels very Christmassy and even snows on the main street at certain times ! The whole trip was magical from start to finish,.

Abu Dhabi surprised me !

I recently travelled to Abu Dhabi for the first time, and I loved what this destination has to offer. From culture - the Louvre museum to Warner Brothers with superheroes to Ferrari World with one of the fastest roller coasters ( no I didn’t brave it ) to the Grand Mosque it really does have it all. Add to this, beautiful white sandy beaches on Saadiyat Island and stunning hotels to meet everyone’s taste it really is a wonderful option for some winter sunshine or a stopover on route further afield.

A more sedate alternative to Dubai.

Captivating Crete

Classic Collection Holidays invited two members of our team to attend a conference, awards ceremony and Classic Collections 35th birthday celebrations at the amazing Abaton Island Resort & Spa in Crete.

The Abaton is a contemporary five star accommodation, located on a stretch of coastline with panoramic sea views, just 2.5 kilometres from Hersonissos resort centre. Rooms are elegant with a sea view, they also have rooms with shared or private pools too. There is a luxury spa and a collection of restaurants offering Greek and international cuisine within the hotel grounds, the food is fabulous. The Abaton is a perfect place for couples wanting a relaxing getaway.

We travelled 50 minutes by coach to Agios Nikolaos, a picturesque resort with nice bars, tavernas and shops. On our return we stopped at Krista Village, a traditional Greek village with old houses and narrow streets on Lassithi Mountains, definitely worth a visit.

Villa escape to Spain

During the summer I travelled with 17 others for a friends 50th birthday celebration the group ranged from 10 years – 55 years of age! We stayed on the Costa Dorado, just an hour south of Barcelona in a lovely 7-bedroom villa just outside Cambrills. The coastline is great for cycling/hiking with over 18kms of coastal cycling paths along with hiking the coastal path, Cami de Ronda. Cambrills is a lovely town with cobbled streets, shops, restaurants and fabulous marina. I also visited the theme park Port Aventura, water park Costa Caribe and spent the afternoon exploring Tarragona – exploring the amazing amphitheatre that overlooks the sea. This area has so much to offer for everyone whether you prefer the purpose-built holiday resort of Salou or you like more traditional Spain you will find it on this coastline. We finished our holiday with a sunset catamaran trip which was a perfect end to a fabulous week!

I recently visited the beautiful Island of Guernsey, only an hour’s flight from Manchester. The island is full of history and character, with many options to explore the neighbouring islands of Herm & Sark. St Peters Port the islands capital has a lovely harbour, stunning sunrises and lots of fabulous places to eat and drink. A compact island which is 12 miles by 6 miles, it can easily be explored by car/bus where you will discover many WWII attractions and amazing beaches. Guernsey is a great destination for couples, solo travellers and families alike if you would like to know more, please give me a call.

A fabulous city on the beach just a short flight away...

If it's a city that has never reached your radar, I would urge you to give it a go. A short 10 minute taxi takes you right into the city which is overlooked by an imposing castle. For the adventurous among you, you can hike to the top to experience Alicante and the coastline in all its splendour. Its a city full of fabulous restaurants, old cobbled streets and fascinating architecture. Not to mention the shopping and cocktail bars. A nice temperate climate makes it a great year round option. The White Isle

Going back to Ibiza for a girls weekend last year made me realise it was a must to revisit with my husband who had not been back since his Club 18-30 days in the 80's. I wanted to share with him what a very special place it is. Beautiful coves and beaches, picturesque Ibiza Town as well as lots of inland villages to explore in the North - we had a blast exploring the island this September. Even managed a trip to a club ?!? - it was for over 27's and was where Club Tropicana was filmed and a great night was had by all. Ibiza has some incredible hotels to offer, restaurants a plenty - it's not just all the super clubs and DJ's/beach clubs that the island is world famous or. Needless to say it may well become an annual adventure...

Krakow Mini Break

A city with lots to offer every visitor.

Krakow is now on my ‘best city breaks’ list. What a wonderful, clean, walkable city. Beautiful architecture, meandering, cobbled streets, fabulous café culture and when your legs are tired and you think you have seen everything you can hop on a buggy with knowledgeable driver who takes you around places off the beaten track.

The Old Town square has a great market selling local artists work and delicious food. There are beautiful churches, a stunning cathedral and a castle to visit plus several museums..we did not see everything and now have a great excuse to go back in Winter to see the Christmas markets.

We stayed in the Jewish Quarter which has its own story to tell but is an area with amazing restaurants and nightlife dotted in historical building.

There are plenty reputable, organised trips to the historical sites, mountains and the Salt Mines plus Segway tours, electric bikes and scooters in the city centre.

It is truly a city for everyone.

Puerto Pollensa is now one of my favourite destinations, a laid back family friendly resort with beautiful scenery. The sandy beach is lined by pine and palm trees with an array of cafes and restaurants.

Pollensa Town is well worth a visit too with its winding streets and the Calvari steps, 365 steps which lead up to a tiny church.

A place I will definitely return to!

I had overlooked the Caribbean in favour of the far east over the years but my visit to Antigua has made me fall in love all over again with these beautiful islands.

The flight was 8.5 hours so in the blink of an eye we were touching down on an Island with 365 beaches and rum cocktails flowing. Paradise.

The island is easy to navigate as they drive on the same side as us and there are so many beautiful beaches it would be a waste to stay put in one place.

We ate at local restaurants and had Caribbean dishes which were delicious and made from local fresh produce. Rum features highly in everything and the locals love their connection to it.

It is a lush, green Island with white sands, turquoise sea and lots to see and do. We did a cooking class while there which was great, especially as you got to eat and drink what you had made!

We visited some amazing hotels from family friendly with lots of activities for everyone to boutique, exclusive romantic ones. An Island Paradise.

Montenegro – Ruth’s recommendation

It’s been on my list for a little while having researched holidays for clients, and finally this June I managed to get there – and it did not disappoint. Even though I only got to explore the Kotor Bay area, I just loved the beauty of the area, the history within the town, beach bars on the lake – very reminiscent of the Italian Lakes. Very easy to explore by car – but lots of water taxis zipping about too. A particular highlight for me was some cruise ship spotting – from SeaDream Yacht Club, to MSC and if you know me you’ll know my personal favourite – Azamara.

Maldivian Paradise

A long awaited bucket list trip finally arrived, a family trip to Furaveri, Maldives…it really was paradise. The sea plane journey was fabulous with the barefoot pilots loading us on and flying over so many beautiful islands before we landed on ours.

The Island was beautiful, hospitality second to none, amazing food and cocktails. The over water villas idyllic with stunning fish swimming below and around us and a view of the turquoise sea from our bed.

The staff were welcoming and a delight. We made use of the diving school, spa, watersports and even yoga on the beach…nothing was too much trouble and we were met with genuine smiles.

There was a buggy service that you just hopped on if you were walking through the trees that would take you wherever you wanted to go and for such a small area of land everyone had their own bit of private heaven.

We had a boat trip to watch the dolphins at sunset and we watched the reef sharks being fed every evening on the beach. We saw manta rays, turtles, fish galore and fruit bats happily flying from tree to tree.

“Wow” was the word I used a lot, it exceeded my expectations and even though it was a once in a lifetime trip I will definitely going again!

Ski Trip to Morzine

February in Morzine was a mixture of hard work, Aperol and sunshine! The flight to Geneva is short and the drive from there to Morzine is stunning and within 2 hours you arrive in the pretty town which boasts excellent ski runs for all the family along with lots of apres ski options to end the day on a high.

This year the temperature was upto 20 degrees on the slopes so after a morning navigating the snow there was the option of a deckchair in the sun for lunch.

Tuscan delights by Cindy

Cindy travelled to Pisa, Lucca & Florence with her family February half term for a 5 day short break. The trip began with an overnight stay in Pisa enjoying lunch in the sunshine, a climb up the leaning tower followed the next morning by a lovely morning stroll along the walls of the city. Continuing by bus to the beautiful walled city of Lucca we enjoyed a 5km bike ride along the wall, the best gelato & pizza ever ! We explored the many cobbled streets, churches, towers that Lucca had to offer with an overnight stay at a luxury b&b. The next morning we took the high speed train from Lucca to Florence 1 hr 20 mins, on arrival we hopped on the open top bus to get our baring’s of this beautiful city. Next we explored on foot the old town area with the most amazing Duomo cathedral for a couple of hours finishing our walk at the Santa Croce a very impressive basilica. We then jumped back on the hop on hop bus getting off at the Piazzale Michelangelo up in the hill side overlooking Florence we watched the most amazing sunset & finished the day with a visit to the San Miniato al Monte before returning to the city for an amazing Calzone pizza. After a good nights sleep we headed off to the Accademia gallery to see the Statue of David, then climbed the 463 steps to the top of Duomo the views from the top & the dome itself was amazing. After a spot of lunch we walked down to the river visiting the many statues of Florence surrounding the Uffizi gallery & crossed the river over the Ponte Vecchio. For sunset this evening we climbed the bell tower of the Duomo cathedral another 414 steps, hard work doing both in one day however the view & sunset was out of this world. The next morning we took to the many cobbled streets, visiting the market & fabulous shops Florence has to offer before jumping on the high speed train 1 hr/ 8min mono rail journey to Pisa airport for our flight home. A truly amazing 5 days enjoyed by 4 adults & 3 children aged 10/12/14 it really does offer something for everyone.

Rebecca and Amanda were lucky enough to be invited to a conference and awards ceremony hosted by Classic Collection Holidays in Cyprus. We stayed at two hotels, Constantinou Bros Athena Beach and its sister hotel Constantinou Bros Athena Royal Beach, the latter being an adult only property. Both hotels are in Paphos and situated along the sea front. Paphos harbour is a gentle 15 minute stroll away. Both hotels are fabulous 4* properties – great food and friendly staff. The grounds of both hotels are beautifully maintained and spacious. We had a tour of Paphos where we were taken to historical sites and into the mountains to traditional villages to see the locals making their bread. Paphos harbour is lovely with plenty of bars, shops and restaurants to sit and watch the world go by. Paphos really has something for everyone.

Lisbon – Loved it ! by Cindy

I have recently spent 2 nights in the amazing city of Lisbon, I stayed in the old town with many Faldo restaurants and bars close by. Full of little cobbled streets, a maze of quirky alleyways as Lisbon is quite hilly in parts it offers some fantastic view points looking down over the city and cruise port. The upper city region can easily be explored by the beautiful old trams or the local tuk tuk’s. In the new part of the city it has a wide range of shopping, castles, churches and the old elevator of Santa Justa with its amazing piece of engineering and fabulous views from the top. I took the 28 tram journey between the new and old city a brilliant way of seeing what Lisbon has to offer. I stumbled across a fabulous food hall called Time Out Lisbon that offers many varieties of food that have all been tested by a panel of judges before allowing to be sold, it really is a hidden gem and well worth the visit. I would like to return with my children and explore the surrounding areas including Balem Tower. I would recommend this city to everyone, young or old, lively or traditional it caters for all.

Amanda’s Mexico Trip

I have just returned from Puerto Vallarta, a resort on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. A country that was not on my radar until I had conversations in the office with clients and colleagues, then I was intrigued!

What a fabulous place, the resort is laid back, authentic..beautiful blue seas, white sand, brilliant service in the hotel and restaurants.

The Mexican people are delightful, happy and welcoming. The Sheraton hotel is directly on the beach where you can stroll into the vibrant town which has an abundance of restaurants and bars. The old town is pretty and the Malecon, which is the promenade that is next to the sea, is lively and colourful.

I am now inspired to do more travel in this beautiful area, if you would like any recommendations for this area please give me a call!

I recently returned to the beautiful island of Mauritius to attend a Wedding and enjoyed the experienced of 2 lovely hotels – The Paradise Cove 5 * adults only boutique hotel & the Zilwa Attitude 4 * authentic Mauritian resort with an array of activities .

I loved my time at both hotels for different reasons and eat some of the most amazing food.

Mauritius is an island surrounded by perfect white sandy beaches , and at the centre of it all , Mountains and breath taking scenery. With almost year-round sunshine it’s difficult not to be wowed – I sure was .

It reminded me how much Mauritius has to offer couples and families and literally no jetlag !

I stayed at the Medplaya Regente hotel in Benidorm for a family birthday, there were 10 of us in total & we all found the hotel really good, great entertainment, food, clean & friendly staff. It is located 10 mins walk to Levante beach & main nightlife. Benidorm has something for everyone, as a keen walker I explored the local area & walked up the hillside overlooking Benidorm to the famous Benidorm cross the views were spectacular. I also walked along the lovely promenade a 30 min walk to the beautiful old town where there are many tapas bars, cobbled streets & interesting buildings including Benidorm castle. The Old town is also great for shopping from here you can continue on the Poniente promenade for a further 3 km.

Amanda’s trip to Magical Mykonos

My recent trip to Mykonos was very different to the first time I was there 30 something years ago. But it was still as vibrant and beautiful as I remembered. The hotel Absolute Mykonos was a short taxi ride from the airport, the hotel was stunning and the staff attentive. The views from my sunbed were stunning as I sipped my Aperol, I thought I was in heaven!

Mykonos town is buzzing with life, quaint squares, windy streets, fabulous restaurants, bars and shops. Definitely one for the bucket list!

Ruth’s Trip to Northern Spain, Azamara French Cruise & Rome

Having just returned from a fabulous trip – I just had to share just a few photos and experiences.

Our trip started with a few nights in San Sebastian (food and Rioja heaven) before driving onto Zaragoza for a few nights – which I didn’t know a lot about, but was a great stop on route to Castell De Feles just south of Barcelona, for another couple of nights before joining our cruise. If you’ve ‘done’ Barcelona before and want a few nights pre/post cruise – this is a great beach resort (have a lovely hotel recommendation for you).

The onto Azamara Onward – what can I say, small ship cruising (595 guests/27 nationalities), informal style, excellent cuisine – quiet deck area if you want it – I love it! We stopped in various ports along the French coast on route to Rome’s coastal port.

Finally, a few days in Rome to finish – what a fabulous city (again a lovely hotel recommendation with a roof top bar/pool with views onto the Colosseum) – check out the pictures!

“We absolutely loved the holiday in Oludeniz. The arrangements went smoothly. The hotel was fab. The resort is somewhere we will go again and Turkey-well I cant believe we have never been. We only went as other arrangements were cancelled through the pandemic. We are so glad . I will be in touch in due course to arrange holidays in 2021. Now we’ve been, even in these circumstances, we won’t be stopped going again. We even did the parasailing off Babadag mountain!”

Amazing Antigua by Claire

I had the amazing opportunity in November to visit the beautiful Caribbean island of Antigua, and I was not disappointed. Both Julie and Sam rave about Antigua, so I wanted to see what it was all about. Stunning beaches, a huge choice of beautiful hotels, and some of the most friendliest people! I stayed in 4 different hotels including Carlisle Bay, Blue Waters and the luxurious Jumby Bay located on its own private island. Jumby Bay is one of the most amazing hotels I have ever stayed in, accessed by a 10 minute journey onboard a private yacht, what a way to make an entrance! We had a tour of the island in a 4 x 4 where we visited Shirley Heights, Devils Bridge and finished off with a stingray snorkel adventure. We took the speedboat out into the ocean and got into the sea – it was a little scary but these creatures are so gentle, it was magical. I will certainly be returning one day.

In December Sam was invited to join the Amazing Ama Serena on her journey down the Rhine to discover the world’s most timeless Christmas Markets. For four nights, we travelled through magnificent locks into Germany, France and Switzerland seeing spectacular Castles and Cathedrals displayed by holiday lights and decorated trees.

Such a relaxing way to travel, with Fine Dining, fabulous staff , live entertainment and a beautiful Stateroom, it certainly lived up to its excellent reputation and fully understandable why AmaWaterways has been voted best River Cruise Line.

Claire and Ruth attended a lovely evening hosted by Azure in Harrogate and were delighted to leave with a beautiful award recognising our support of Azure as an agent based in the North of England.

As well as being one of the first to see the new collection of brochures, we had some lovely presentations from some of the very luxurious hoteliers they are delighted to sell. We also learned about some of the new and exciting things happening at Azure:

Luxury Train Travel Singapore to Bangkok by Julie

Some of you may know my favourite form of travel is by train. I recently travelled on the Eastern and Oriental Express from Singapore through Malaysia down to Bangkok. The dining and culinary experience on this trip was literally out of this world. If you love food and all aspects of dining experiences then this should be on your wish list.

Ibiza – luxury hotels beyond the superclubs…

I was lucky enough to spend 3 nights at one Ibiza’s newest 5* hotels this July – Bless Hotel Ibiza . Uber stylish, with facilities to match, it was certainly a fabulous hotel for grown ups on this superbly pretty island. There are some really luxurious hotels to be found on Ibiza – it’s not all about the nightlife!

The trip was jointly hosted by Classic Collection Holidays and the Palladium Hotel Group. I was able to see quite a few of the best hotels on the island – and trust me you are spoilt for choice!

Claire’s Australian Adventure

I certainly hit the ground running on my recent trip to Australia! A jam packed itinerary included 4 nights Northern Territories, and 4 nights South Australia.

Flying into Darwin, just 4 and a half hours from Singapore, we began a 2 night/3-day tour of Kakadu National Park, Katherine & Litchfield National Park. We trekked to Gunlom, sailed on the Yellow Water Billabong in search of crocodiles and we were successful! We also spotted Jaberu, Koromaru, and a Jacamar bird with its 3 chicks. We visited Florence Falls, Wangi Falls and had a 2 hour Aboriginal Cultural Experience at Top Didj and met a lovely Aboriginal man called Manuel who gave us an insight to his culture and early life, followed by an Aboriginal Art painting lesson. My favourite hotel was the Cicada Lodge, and from there we visited the Nitmiluk Gorge on a sunset dinner cruise.

If that wasn’t enough wildlife, we then flew South to Adelaide and another adventure began. A fun EcoCaddy tour of the city, finishing off at the famous Adelaide Oval, were took part in the Roof Climb – covering 1.2km, we started on the Oval’s Western stand, then onto the link bridge to the iconic Riverbank stand – I nearly turned back when I saw the open staircase leading even higher to the Riverbank stand! But I carried and was so glad I did.

The next 2 days were out of this world as we flew 30 minutes across to Kangaroo Island – over a third of the island is protected in nature reserves and we certainly saw plenty of wildlife. Sea lions, Koalas, Kangaroos, New Zealand fur seal to name a few, and of course the breathtaking sights of Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch and Vivonne Bay. Our final day of this crazy itinerary was the wine region of Barossa – within an hours drive out of Adelaide. We visited the world famous Jacob’s Creek, Seppeltsfield Wines & Langmeil Winery, and managed to sample a few different wines on the way.

All in all, a very busy trip but I loved every minute of it being able to learn about parts of Australia that I was a little unfamiliar with.

Inspiring India by Julie…

My first trip to India was wonderful after waiting many years to visit this truly fascination part of the world. I travelled in true style on the Maharajas Express – India’s ultimate royal train journey. My highlights of the itinerary were travelling through the beautiful region of Rajasthan and the golden Triangle taking in Delhi, Agra (Taj Mahal ) and Jaipur ‘ Pink City ‘. then I travelled further south to Kerala and the tropical backwaters. I fell in love with India so much so I hope to return again soon as there is so much more for me to see and do.
